Before
Dentistry
| General Anesthesia. | |
| An examination is made of the oral cavity. At this time the periodontal pockets are measured and the need for extractions is determined. |
During
Dentistry
| A dental scaler and hand instruments are used to remove calculus(tartar) and plaque from the exposed surfaces of the teeth as well as under the gum line. | |
| The teeth are polished to smooth all surface irregularities. This will slow the rate of plaque attachment. | |
| The procedure is finished with a fluoride treatment which will help strengthen the enamel, decrease the sensitivity of the teeth and act as an antibacterial agent. |
After Dentistry
| Home care will be discussed to help prevent future dental disease ( regular tooth brushing and feeding a pet food with proven oral benefits is helpful in daily plaque control and maintenance of oral health). |
