Gail J. Schmieder, DVM

 Dr. Gail Schmieder earned her BA at Pomona College.  She graduated in 1986 from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine and moved to Massachusetts to complete an internship at the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital.  After several years in private practice, she moved her family to Quebec, where she became fluent in French in order to obtain her veterinary license.  For the next decade, she owned a very successful AAHA certified practice in addition to teaching veterinary sciences at the college level in Quebec.  After returning to Massachusetts in 2002, Dr. Schmieder joined the Slade Veterinary Hospital team.

Dr. Schmieder has been competing with dogs since the 1970’s.  Starting in 1984, she has successfully competed with her Brittanys in obedience, hunt tests and conformation.  She has bred and competed with multiple successful dogs, including National Specialty Winners and Best in Show dogs.  She has competed in obedience through the Utility Dog title and had dabbled with other dog sports such as agility and flyball.  Currently, she is enjoying the opportunity to help many dog fanciers achieve success through her expertise in Slade Veterinary Hospital reproductive services.

Dr. Schmieder enjoys artistic endeavors when at home such as creating pet furniture, sewing piecework home decorations and other home improvement projects.  Her favorite projects are the ones that make her life with her dogs and cats even more fulfilling.
